Where to eat Peking duck in Las Vegas
Yu by Sijie, on South Rampart Boulevard in west Las Vegas, builds its menu around Peking duck. It is the dish the kitchen would put in front of a guest first.
The duck is roasted whole until the skin turns a deep, glossy amber. It is then carved so that every slice carries skin, and served with:
- warm pancakes in a bamboo steamer
- finely cut cucumber and spring onion
- toasted sesame and sweet bean sauce
- a row of one-bite canapés, each finished with caviar
Peking duck or roast duck?
The dish at Yu by Sijie is Peking duck. "Roast duck" is a broad name that covers many regional styles; Peking duck is the specific Beijing tradition in which the lacquered skin is the point, and the carved duck is wrapped at the table in thin pancakes with spring onion, cucumber and sweet bean sauce.
Guests have asked about the difference, so the restaurant uses the name Peking duck everywhere — on this website, in English and in Chinese.
Dim sum made by hand, every day
All of the dim sum at Yu by Sijie is made by hand in the restaurant. Soup dumplings (xiaolongbao), pan-fried buns (shengjianbao) and the rest of the range are folded on site each day, in quantities that can run out.

The rest of the kitchen covers seafood cooked to order, hard-fire wok cooking, slow-built broths and small desserts. The cuisine page explains each part, and the photo gallery shows the plates.
Who is behind Yu by Sijie
Yu by Sijie was founded by Sijie, known to her guests as Amy, who has thirty years of experience in restaurants.
She is also the founder of Special Noodle, a Northern California brand that has since reached Austin and Las Vegas. Special Noodle is not a hand-pulled noodle house; its name comes from the particular way the noodle itself is treated.
For Yu, Sijie took part in the design and build-out of the dining room herself. Her aim is a restaurant that learns from Michelin standards in flavour and service while keeping prices fair. Read Sijie's full story.

What the name 御 means
御 (yù) is the classical Chinese character for what was prepared for the imperial table. It names a standard of care in the kitchen rather than a style of cooking. "by Sijie" works like a signature: a meal she is willing to put her own name behind.
